B vitamins are a group of eight water-soluble vitamins that are essential for the body to function properly. They mainly influence the state of the nervous system, brain health and energy levels. The group includes: Vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid) and B12 (cobalamin).
Vitamins B1, B3, B6, B7 and B12 support the maintenance of normal mental functions, the functioning of the nervous system and energy metabolism. Thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid and biotin help to obtain energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Niacin, on the other hand, also breaks down carbohydrates and fat, whereby this breakdown mainly takes place during physical activity.
