Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids. The most common forms of omega-3 fatty acids are DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). Another form is the so-called ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). Omega-3 fatty acids are also essential fatty acids, i.e. they are vital for the human body. This unsaturated fatty acid therefore plays a major role in a healthy diet!
